ou’ve heard the saying, when it rains it pours. This time, there’s a twist to its meaning. A nod to the most stylish celebs who never lose an opportunity to dress up to the T. When the event lineup comes raining, we are assured of a plethora of looks pouring in with intentionality and precision. Last week was a Gucci-geng affair with Hollywood A-listers pacing the LACMA Art and Film Gala in ostentatious garments and complementary attitudes

The star-packed guest list included the ravishing Jodie Turner-Smith and Lupita Nyong’o who came determined to turn heads. Meanwhile, along with the WSJ Innovator awards came a healthy dose of slay on fashion models and celebs alike. Simply put, last week, style stars rendered tens across the fashion boards.

The Looks

The iconic Janet Jackson made an appearance at a wedding ceremony in a black Christian Siriano tulle dress and a braided updo. This look was an elegant departure from her recent baggy renderings, and her curves in this number were a testament that Ms. Jackson remains THAT girl.

Anok Yai must have the Lord on speed dial because how else do you explain never missing a sartorial beat and having a glorious skin tone that keeps on giving? At the WSJ Innovative Award, the top model showed up decked in layers of an oversized Fear of God ensemble. She put textures to work — from leather to suede — and the result was a dang impressive look that complemented her glowing melanin.

Sequins hold the belief that it’s every party girl’s favorite, and its reputation seems to align. Singer Halle Bailey effortlessly rocked a black sequin Gucci number to the LACMA Art and Film Gala and confirmed the efficacy of styling this sophisticated texture. The sleeveless dress featured a deep neckline and flowy hem. Her signature braids, minimal face beat, and jewelry sealed this look in its refined status.
